Words are powerful. People are raised to new heights and brought to the lowest of depths by words. The children of Israel were held frozen by the words of men. Only two of the twelve spies returned with the truth of God. The people chose to believe the bad report.
Remember, God Himself was Who initiated the spies’ investigation in the first place. God’s objective was for Israel to claim the inheritance, nothing less. It made no difference what excuses they would come up with. For if they’d rather wander around in the desert than trust God, then those are the consequences. Like so many of our people today, they became so preoccupied and impressed with the enemies of God that they would not hear the truth. The words of men have pulled Israel away from their inheritance and God’s blessing.
The truth of God provides total confidence in God’s protection: “Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.” (Numbers 13:30) Whereas the words men come up with deny the power of God: “We be not able to go against these people” (Numbers 13:31). What would be the consequences for the people regarding the two reports?
There’s no doubt, believing the bad report is so much easier, at first. The bad report doesn’t require us to take a stand. Yet by rejecting the good report, they were forfeiting God’s protection. Therefore there’s more at stake than just mere preferences, hurt feelings, and rash opinions. There will be consequences of not trusting God.
It seems easier to pretend our God has no real enemies or to just not get involved. Some want to act like God is just some nice old guy, wearing a rainbow t-shirt, handing out free ice cream cones, begging everyone to love Him. That might make us warm and fuzzy, but that’s not the God of Scripture. Therefore if you choose to disagree with the good report, you better prepare to remain in the desert, without your inheritance and God’s full protection.
1 And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.
Worry is a consequence of not believing the good report, listening to the lies of men over the truth of God. If one is going to continue to swallow lies, you better prepare for misery. In Scripture when God’s people reject the truth it always results in suffering and further bondage.
Most of what’s being taught today shows no clear lines between good and evil or righteousness and corruption, as Scripture teaches. It’s the children of Light versus the children of darkness. If you haven’t assumed your position as a son of God, your indifference is strengthening God’s enemies against your own people. Understand, God’s ideal future for Israel hasn’t changed. But if you allow the lies of men to discourage you from listening to the Scriptures, you’re already defeated, and the battle hasn’t even started.
2 And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness! 3 And wherefore hath the LORD brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt? 4 And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.
This is so reminiscent of our people even today! Unless we wake up, from cradle to grave, our people now embrace a slave mentality due to all the post World War II lies, high taxes, unjust laws, and greedy corporations that we’ve lived under, that seemingly control our lives. In the midst of this, our people have a real knack for forgetting all about God! Our minds are not on victory or possessing our inheritance, but full of fear because of the bad reports of men. Yet while they’re blaming everything on Moses and Aaron, God’s enemies are still living it up in their land. These Israelites were so used to being in bondage, they didn’t know what it meant to be free. They’d therefore rather stay in the desert, or even go back into Egyptian bondage, than believe the good report and follow Him into the Promised Land. The good report always seems ‘bad’ to those who can’t trust God. For by our unwillingness to take a stand, we are actually helping the enemies of God.
Why is it when we’re bound by lies, we totally resent someone who gives us the only truth that will set us free? The congregation is turning their back on Moses, but the problem is: God sent them Moses. And all Moses has done is lead them, love them, and tell them the truth. That’s all Christ has ever done for Israel as well.
What makes us think we’ve been ‘set free’ if when it’s time to step out in faith, we won’t budge? What makes us think we should be blessed of God all we do is we pull back on God and make excuses? The congregation may not be physically in Egypt, but in their hearts they’re still in bondage. God is calling them to something greater. Yet they despise the man of God when all he wants is to see is God shine through them. God is patient, but we should never assume we can drag our feet forever.
5 Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel.
Note their humility. Moses and Aaron knew, with every word the people spoke against them, consequences were coming. Yet they were willing to suffer reproach even by their own people.
6 And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes: 7 And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land. 8 If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey. 9 Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not.
Everything depends upon whether or not God will “delight” in them. Is there anything more important to you than being a delight unto our God? The way you can know is by whether or not you’ve submitted to the authority of Scripture. Joshua and Caleb knew they had only spoken the truth of God to them. Moses and Aaron were their leaders appointed by God. They so desparately wanted their people to know what they knew, and see what they had seen, so they won’t be deceived anymore.
The congregation should be thankful God has raised up someone in their midst that has more consciousness and see further into Yahweh’s plan. While they sense how close these people are to squandering this tremendous opportunity. God doesn’t delight in His people when we refuse to believe the good report- that’s the very definition of, rebellion.
If you believe the good report, you have nothing to fear. But if you reject the truth, you have everything to worry about. A good indication one has rejected the good report is they always somehow come up with excuses, especially when God requires a change. This is where the protection of God becomes a real issue. When you allow someone to talk you out of believing the good report, they are talking you into joining their rebellion against God.
10 But all the congregation bade stone them with stones. And the glory of the LORD appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the children of Israel.
Let’s face it, the first time we hear the truth, it can make us very angry. Yet once we step back and humble ourselves, God’s Spirit within helps us see how our ‘knee-jerk,’ worldly reaction was just a reflection of how far this ungodly society has pulled us away from the purity of our Father. Don’t just reject it at face value, get in Scripture!
Our Father knows our hearts; He knows exactly how each of His children responds to everything, including Scripture. These people wanted to kill Caleb and Joshua for telling them the truth! Isn’t it amazing how easily we can be deceived?! ‘What a great idea they come up with; destroy the only ones who have the guts to tell them the truth anf give you a good report. Unfortunately that’s the way its always been, both with our ancestors and our white brethren around us today.
When we look back now, it should ‘blow our minds’ just how much we were deceived. We watched the news, worrying, thinking the whole time we knew the truth. But step by step, God brings us along. Can you honestly say you trust God more now than you ever did then, because of the truth of Scripture? Agreeing with the truth is what’s changed us, providing us with stability and protection.
Again, we may recall how angry we got the first time we heard some of these things. It wasn’t until we humbled ourselves and got our eyes off everything else and placed them on the Almighty, that we began to rejoice in the same truths we once despised.
God never delivers His people from bondage for us to surrender our inheritance to His enemies, even though there are more of our people telling lies than are telling the truth. God has something much greater! If we’ll just slow down and listen to God, we won’t make the same mistake our ancestors made in this text:
11 And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have shewed among them? 12 I will smite them with the pestilence, and disinherit them, and will make of thee a greater nation and mightier than they.
Look at all God has done for them; yet they’re still rebelling. Don’t make the same mistake by following a bad report. Do you grasp the magnitude of what God is telling Moses here? God is proposing that He wipe out everyone of them who is rejecting His Word by rejecting the good report and basically, start from scratch with Moses. One thing’s for certain: the God of Scripture doesn’t play around. Anyone who is guilty of murmuring and has it in their heart to destroy God’s servants, has also provoked this same God.
We see in the New Testament, God has not changed in this regard. In II Thessalonians the great Apostle Paul says, “…because they received not the love of the truth… God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie.” Without adhering to the truth of Scripture, there is no real protection even against lies.
13 And Moses said unto the LORD, Then the Egyptians shall hear it, (for thou broughtest up this people in thy might from among them;) 14 And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that thou LORD art among this people, that thou LORD art seen face to face, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, by day time in a pillar of a cloud, and in a pillar of fire by night. 15 Now if thou shalt kill all this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of thee will speak, saying, 16 Because the LORD was not able to bring this people into the land which he sware unto them, therefore he hath slain them in the wilderness. 17 And now, I beseech thee, let the power of my LORD be great, according as thou hast spoken, saying, 18 The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation. 19 Pardon, I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of thy mercy, and as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.
Here once again we see that of all the nations of the world, only Israel is in this special relationship with God. Psalm 147:19-20 says: “He (speaking of God) showeth his word to Jacob, his statutes and his judgments to Israel. HE HATH NOT DEALT SO WITH ANY NATION: and as for his judgments, THEY HAVE NOT KNOWN THEM, Praise ye Yahweh.” Paul goes on in Galatians 4:5 to inform us that Christ only came “To redeem them, that were under the law.” That’s why Whites cannot get by with what all these other ‘people’ get by with, proof that we are the legitimate sons of Yahweh God our Father, according to Hebrews chapter 12.
When you look at history, the manner at which the ‘many nations’ (from the Greeks, to the Carthaginians, to the Parthians, to the Romans, all the way through the European nations) rise and fall, runs in direct proportion with their drifting out from under God’s protection, due to their disagreement with the truth of Scripture.
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. 24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. 26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
Even in our nation, because of the subtle replacement (by God’s enemies) of the truth of God with the lies of Talmudic, Marxist Communism – the consequence is God’s protection is slipping away. God’s protection comes through His people agreeing with Him.
Moses doesn’t run to talk to anyone except for God. Moses shows his love for his people through appealing to God’s mercy on their behalf. Why didn’t these people just pray for the man of God rather than murmuring against him and provoking the hot anger of God toward them?! When will our people ever learn? The only ‘leg any of us have to stand on’ with God is due to the promises He made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
20 And the LORD said, I have pardoned according to thy word:
James says in his Epistle, “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” Moses saw the big picture through the eyes of God. Our people still need God’s mercy. As far as attitude and awareness of God, there’s very little difference between the rest of the world and most Whites. Most are going along with evil and think it’s okay. There’s more wickedness going on in this country than ever before. How bad will it become before Israel will finally listen to “thus saith the Lord”?!
21 But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD. 22 Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice; 23 Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it: 24 But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.
The whole point in God creating this world in the first place, is for His glory. Therefore we should pray, that in contrast to all the other ‘spirits’ misleading most of our people today, we would follow ‘another spirit,’ the indwelling Holy Spirit, which resides within each Israelite. Those who are truly following God won’t go along with the majority or the crowd. Caleb was a great man and in God’s eyes, an obedient servant. The only way to be a servant of God is to believe the good report. Caleb stood up for the man of God, Moses, not against him.
25 (Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwelt in the valley.) Tomorrow turn you, and get you into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea. 26 And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, 27 How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.
Now wait a minute. They were murmuring against Moses and Aaron. Obviously when you murmur against God’s men, God takes it very personal. We must be very careful with our words, that we don’t find ourselves on the wrong side of God.
28 Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you: 29 Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward which have murmured against me. 30 Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun. 31 But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised. 32 But as for you, your carcases, they shall fall in this wilderness. 33 And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness. 34 After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise. 35 I the LORD have said, I will surely do it unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die. 36 And the men, which Moses sent to search the land, who returned, and made all the congregation to murmur against him, by bringing up a slander upon the land, 37 Even those men that did bring up the evil report upon the land, died by the plague before the LORD. 38 But Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of the men that went to search the land, lived still. 39 And Moses told these sayings unto all the children of Israel: and the people mourned greatly.
What more needs to be said, when God has spoken. When we are given unfiltered truth and we rebel against it, there will be consequences. Let’s be careful that we don’t ‘hitch our wagons’ to someone who is so ignorant of Scripture that we wind up on the wrong side of God. There’s no doubt God will protect you if you’re seeking to follow the Bible. Yet it’s all going to go His way, with or without us. We should make whatever adjustments necessary to not become a cataway.
40 And they rose up early in the morning, and gat them up into the top of the mountain, saying, Lo, we be here, and will go up unto the place which the LORD hath promised: for we have sinned. 41 And Moses said, Wherefore now do ye transgress the commandment of the LORD? but it shall not prosper. 42 Go not up, for the LORD is not among you; that ye be not smitten before your enemies. 43 For the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sword: because ye are turned away from the LORD, therefore the LORD will not be with you. 44 But they presumed to go up unto the hill top: nevertheless the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and Moses, departed not out of the camp. 45 Then the Amalekites came down, and the Canaanites which dwelt in that hill, and smote them, and discomfited them, even unto Hormah.
It’s now become too late. The door of opportunity has closed. Because of their rebellion, the protection of God for this generation of Israelites against His enemies and the opportunity to claim their inheritance, was now gone. For even today, God is using His enemies, which most of our people admire, as a scourge to punish us for our disobedience. This is one of the main consequences of not trusting God and not believing the good report.
Isn’t it interesting how those who are in rebellion against God are always the most miserable. So if you must, just keep on murmuring, as opportunities pass you by. For one day, we’ll all have a fuller awareness of who God is and that Scripture was true. We’ll all understand we should have set a better example for our children.
Going along with the words of men does us good. Why not take this opportunity to flee into God’s loving arms. You’ve heard verse after verse, chapter after chapter of the Bible over and over again, telling you the truth of God, as the lies of men have only confused you. Which report will you believe and what will be the consequences for you and your family?
