Upon the money are the words – “IN GOD WE TRUST.” Only through trusting God will we find peace and satisfaction. It takes an insatiable hunger and thirst for Him. His wisdom is free, but it isn’t cheap or easy. If we’ll listen carefully to Him, we can expect to have an abundant life. God has plans for us and a part for us to play in the Word economy.
Trusting God is more than just words. Do you have control over your thoughts or do your thoughts control you? Are you on your own broad way or His narrow way? When it comes to trusting God, these are the elements which must be learned and put to practice. For the ability to trust Him dwells within us, if we’ll set our minds to following His ways.
6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: 7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
There appears to be a breach or distance between us and God – something we must overcome through seeking Him. The peculiar thing is God is Omnipresent which means He’s everywhere all the time, plus He lives in each of His people. How then can anything exist between us and God? It can’t be something external, but something within us; in our mind. Isaiah gets to the root of the matter of trusting God – that diligent effort must be made in our thought life.
Do you view being a Christian as this glorious opportunity to live in power or as a cumbersome burden you must carry for the rest of your days? Yahweh wants fellowship with His people but we must have the mindset to gain and maintain closeness with Him. As we’re seeing continually throughout Scripture, it all comes down to one thing between us and God – trust.
We need His mercy and forgiveness, therefore we must “forsake” our old ways and thoughts. The reason many Israelites remain in such a continual struggle is because they’ve never sought to control their thoughts. Just because something comes ‘natural’ doesn’t mean it’s God’s way, in fact, it may be just the opposite. Stop making excuses such as “Well, that’s just me” and change, so that God will “abundantly pardon” you. The only way to return to Yahweh is by making the shift to the Word economy in this way.
6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: 7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
This is under our control, we must therefore assume this responsibility. For we live in a world that’s very successful at controlling white people by us giving over control of our thoughts. There’s no shortage of manufactured ideas, yet this is what’s constantly pulling our race away from God. Moment by moment our thoughts wonder through a virtual ‘supermarket’ of ideas and concepts, until our mind gets its fill. Just like food that we eat, the quality of the information impacts our health, but of a spiritual nature. To be effective for God in the Word economy, we must ‘watch what we eat’ by controlling what we take into our minds.
Whatever you allow into your mind changes the course of your thoughts. Worldly thinking is what pushes you away from Yahweh. Worldly thinking isn’t just things like greed, lust, murder, or any other premeditated evil actions, but anything that makes you doubt, worry, or fear. We must never minimize the affect idle thinking has on us spiritually.
Seeking God isn’t just learning facts about Him but learning how to trust Him. Everything about the world economy makes us worry. At the very best, it gives us false hope. Therefore effectively seeking God is impossible if you do not control your appetite. It could be through something as subtle as a daily talk show or a negative friend or family member. We must ‘stop shooting ourselves in the foot’ by allowing ‘fastfood’ thinking to fill our minds and determine our way of life.
According to Isaiah, if we’ll just simply take responsibility for our own thought life, progress will occur. For once we’ve “found” Him, then we can “call” on Him, because in our thinking He “is near.” This is not a complicated process of thinking and communicating. To “seek” is Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance #1875 to follow, worship. Whom you follow and give most of your attention to, is the object of your worship.
Proof one is not going to trust God is that he is not managing his thoughts, and will end up forgetting about God for most of his life. Trusting God begins by giving Him top priority in your mind. We seek God because we love Him and need His help. This is the heart of the Word economy and the way we learn to trust God.
In the Word economy, you find God “while he may be found”, then “call ye upon him while he is near.” SINCE HE LIVES INSIDE OF US ALL THE TIME WE MUST STOP IGNORING HIM. Trusting God means being willing to “forsake” everything in order to seek and spend time with Him. We forsake our ways by repenting of our stubborness, then we can “return unto Yahweh” as His mercy covers us and sets us free to trust Him. To be a part of the Word ecomony, we must be willing to make the adjustments.
Your “way” reflects what state your mind is in. The way to righteous living begins by changing your thoughts. According to this, for our thoughts and ways to not be in alignment with God is “wicked.” God provides no clause or loophole that will excuse us not trusting Him. To “return unto Yahweh” then starts in the mind, resulting in the right character and actions. For only thoughts original with God are acceptable unto Him. As He goes on to explain:
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
‘Buying without money’ is not the only concept that came from above. Whatever we must do to get away from our old worldy thoughts and ways, we must do. Don’t pretend like there is so much leeway when it comes to trusting God. One who is seeking to trust God comprehends how important it is that we align our lives with His higher thoughts and ways. Nothing in this world can scratch the surface of the superior life intended for us by our Most High God.
We have ignored and minimized the importance of our thought life far too long. We imagine comparing ourselves to one another can somehow makes us superior. Yet God is telling us to compare our thoughts and ways to His to find there is no comparison. The further your ways and thoughts are from God, the less satisfaction you will experience in this life.
If you’ve never seen the need to forsake your ways, much less your thoughts, don’t be shocked when troubles come and God seems a million miles away. His thoughts and ways have not and will not change; He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Therefore, we must allow His thoughts and ways to take hold of our lives.
This is what matters in the Word economy. For God’s Word has always existed in His infinite mind, and His ways are always consistent with His Word. We cannot allow the thoughts of our carnal mind to determine what we believe about God. Our knowledge of the truth about God must control our thoughts and our mind. For what our carnal mind naturally thinks is not even close to the much higher thoughts of God.
As we’ve seen in previous studies, God desires for us to call upon Him to perform what cannot be done through any earthly means – what we call, the impossible. While at the same time, our carnal mind constantly tries to convince us to leave God out of the equation. God has His ways, and we have our’s. What it comes down to is whether or not we will forsake our way and trust God. This reveals which of the two economies – the world or the Word – we are living under.
In and of itself, our carnal mind doesn’t comprehend how God can do such miraculous things, therefore we are tempted to not call upon Him to intervene. Yet in the Spirit, His thoughts in us builds our trust in Him always knowing the perfect way. While acknowledging our carnal limitations, we must learn to yield to the Spirit of God.
Consider some of the reoccurring thoughts you may be having in your present situation. What has been your approach; focusing on what you can’t do or how something ‘that good’ could never happen to you? Can’t you see how you are limiting the power of the Holy Spirit in your life? Be loosed from the chains of your own negative, carnal thoughts by forsaking your ways and thoughts while trusting that God is able to do it!
Our carnal minds are naturally filled with worry and doubt, while our unchanging, Omnipotent God is fully trustworthy. Which will you give your thoughts and attention to? We must forsake all things related to carnal thinking and return to Yahweh for His mercy, “for he will abundantly pardon” us for our frivilous, limited thinking.
As we stand, each of us are the sum total product of our thoughts and ways. Letting our mind wonder and allowing other influences to control our thoughts, may be our biggest problem. God’s ways are absolutely consistent with His thoughts. Therefore the power to be lifted up out our present, pitiful state is by changing to His higher thoughts and ways.
We can trust God because His thoughts and ways are the only ones which did not originate in this wicked world. If we want power and satisfaction, we must embrace thoughts and ways that are other-worldly. That’s what it means to trust God. We will not overcome the world in our daily practice if we do not start ‘buying in’ to the Word economy.
The Word economy is on a much higher plain than the world economy. The Word economy is what God intends for His people to live by since we too did not originate from this world. Rather than dwelling on our setbacks and failures, we should be thankful that we have not found some comfortable place in this world. Your lingering, reoccuring struggles may be the hidden doorway into you learning how to trust God. Only you can seek to view it in this way, and only God can turn it around. The Apostle Paul also concurred the importance of our thought life:
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Heaven on earth begins in our minds. Exchanging our worry, doubts, and fears for the higher thoughts of God lead to a much more fulfilling way of life. We can have heavenly thoughts and ways if we strive to pull ourselves out of the world. May Whites stop legitimizing the world by forsaking thoughts and ways that displease God. Israel’s return to Yahweh begins one thought at a time. This exhibits the potential we have with God that the thoughts He places in us have the power to change everything around us.
How can we know if our thoughts and ways are still worldly and have not changed? When we have no lasting peace or satisfaction. We are on our way to glory when our thoughts are set on trusting God in the Word economy.
We have allowed ourselves to think that we are dependent upon the world, for far too long. God is telling us that the solution is in our Head, when we have the mind of Christ. Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s but don’t allow anyone except God to determine the way you live and think. The Word economy will expand your life and help you reach your fullest potential.
